Obituary

Roy Lee Batts, Sr. in his 92 nd season of life passed on Sunday, April 12, 2020, in the comfort of his home.  He was born May 30, 1927, in Mandeville, AR to Will and Ethel Burton Batts.  They preceded him in death as well as his wife, Parlee Batts; his siblings, and their spouses, W.B. (Dora) Batts, Grady O'Neal (Margorie) Batts, Willie Mae Tyler, Gracie Lee Minnifield, Roberta (Eddie) Boyd, Artella (Gus) Yarber, Annie Mae (Herman Lee) Scales, and Coreane (Henry)Baker; his grandsons, Kenneth Batts, Jr, and Lamar Batts.

Roy was a member of Gospel Mission Church of God in Christ.  He worked many years for Dierks Lumber and retired from Weyerhaeuser Company after more than 30 years of services.  He was known for always keeping a clean car and being a well-dressed man.

Memories of Roy Lee Batts, Sr. will be shared for years to come by, his children, Palastine (Elder Danny) Turner of Mt. Pine, Doris (Michael) Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Roy Lee (Pom) Batts, Jr. of Del City, OK, Terry (Diann) Batts of Huntsville, AL, Kenneth "Trent" Batts of Hot Springs; his sisters, Helene Cooke of Mattson, IL, Dorothy Evans, and Robbie Marie Thompson both of CA; 14 grandchildren, Arkethea (JT) Young, Michael (Shelly) Smith, Keiauna Smith, John, Ronald, Marshall, and Roy Batts, III, Janice, Jenifer, Jasmine, and Terry Batts, Jr., and Kevin Franklin-Batts, Lexus Batts, and Melia Matlock; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Greenwood Cemetery with Elder Danny Turner, officiating.  A walk-through visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM -6:00 PM.
