Obituary

Sarah J. Hill transitioned peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on the 12th day of July in 2020.  Sarah had an opportunity to share her love with her family and friends for 97 years.

Sarah was born in 1922 in Hempstead County to the late Fred and Bertha McGill.  She was preceded in death by her spouses James H. Davis, Amion Richie, and William Hill; her brothers Nathaniel McGill, Lemuel McGill, Adaniel McGill, and Samuel McGill; her sisters Hazel Burton, Louisa Marshall, Bernice McGill, and Loraine Patterson; her son-in-law Lewis Cain; and Tony L. Davis and Charles E. Davis, grandsons.

Sarah was a devoted mother and provider.  She joined Green Hill AME Church at an early age, where she held several positions. She was active in several ministries until her health started to fail later in life. She graduated from Blevins Training School in Blevins, AR. She was employed at Land O'Lakes and Shelter Workshop.  She was also a member of the Mission Order of Eastern Star. She was loved dearly by her family and those in the community. Sarah was the matriarch of her family. To commemorate her many years of leadership in her family she was honored with the Legacy of Leadership award by her family for being the oldest living member. To know Sarah is to know that she also loved fashion. She took pleasure in finding the most beautiful garments and placing them together to make a statement piece for all to see.

The memories of Sarah will forever live on in her children James E. Davis (Catherlene) of Flint, MI, Winifred Cain (Lewis) of Damascus, AR, Wilfred Davis of Flint, MI, and Donnie Davis (Severa) of Hope, AR; her brother Fred McGill (Ethel) of Blevins, AR, Special grandchild that she raised Vence Davis (Chandra) of Prescott, AR, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Service is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2020, at 10:00 am at Green Hill AME Church in Prescott, AR. Masks are required to enter the funeral and should be worn at all times. Masks will not be provided. All COVID-19 guidelines will be adhered to and will be strictly enforced at the service and burial. The burial will follow immediately at the Green Hill AME Cemetery which is located onsite.

Mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance. Jude 1:2
