Remembering the Footsteps of Saundra K. Myles McKenzie

Some people come into our lives, and leave footprints on our heart and we are never the same. On October 3, 1955 in Hot Springs, AR Tom Myles, Sr. and Carrie Reed Myles gave birth to a beautiful baby girl , they named her Saundra Kay Myles. Saundra attended St. Gabriel School, Langston Jr. High School and was a 1973 graduate of Hot Springs High School. During her time in school she played the Bass Clarinet and Flute. She often gave lessons to those who wanted to learn to play. Saundra attended Texas Southern University. She married Joe McKenzie in 1974 and their union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Alicia.

She began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1975. While working for Southwestern Bell she served in management and in many administrative positions. Saundra received her Real Estate Licenses in 2000. She was a member of the Houston Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. .She was active with the Class of 1973 gatherings and the Langston Reunion committee, She was a member of Cottrell Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Saundra was known as the "go to person". She was dependable and had a humble spirit and a caring heart.

She leaves a lasting and loving footprint in the heart of her daughter, Alicia McKenzie of Houston, TX; sister, Eloise Adams; brother, Tom Myles, Jr.; her longtime friend, David Barron all of Hot Springs; niece, Stefanie (Eddie) Harrow and nephew, Earnie Bauknight; two aunts, Helen "Jake" Green and Darlene Reed; a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 26, 2017 at Cottrell Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 698 East Grand Ave, Hot Springs with Pastor James Story, officiating.
