Theodore J. "Ted" Ericson entered the Church Triumphant on Thursday, February 8, 2018. He was born April 4, 1930 in Chicago, IL to the late, John and Annette Ericson. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Frazier.
Ted was a graduate of Grayslake High School where he played football, He was also a graduate of Valparaiso University Class of 1952 where he received a degree in Business Management and a minor in Development Psychology.
He was employed as upper management in one of the country's largest retail companies which afforded him the opportunity to travel to many countries. He and his brother owned a Pecan Orchard Farm and Champion Bedlington Terrier Dog Kennel. Ted was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Committee of One Hundred in Miami, FL. He served as a board member of Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hallandale, FL. He was a Rotarian for forty years where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Together with his son, he was the founder of The Pet Therapy Nursing Home Program which started in 1998. He was a former Chairman of the Animal Service Advisory Commission and currently one of the Governors of National Park Community College Foundation.
Ted was member of St. Luke Episcopal Church where he song baritone. He counseled the "homeless, sick and needy" at St. Luke. He and his team cooked dinners three times a year at Samaritan Ministries Homeless Men Shelter. He loved to cook, bake and share with others. He will be dearly and lovingly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Chad and his wife, Sara Ericson; grandson, Benjamin C. Ericson and granddaughter, Brionna Mattingly.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 228 Springs Street at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 15, 2018 followed by a luncheon and reception in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the church's Pastor's Discretionary Fund for the "Homeless and Needy".
