Theodore William Wade, Jr., affectionately known as 'TEDD,' Tedd was released from his earthly bonds on January 26, 2024, in Hot Springs, AR. Tedd was born on March 29, 1944, to Theodore Von Wade and Syble Louise Akins Wade.
Tedd was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Will, Lena, and Elmira Akins, brothers Robert and Gregory Wade, Bennie J. McKinney, Sr., sister Joyce Wade, his cherished daughter Toni Renee Perry, and cousins Steven and Debbie Haliburton.
Tedd spent his formative years in Battle Creek, MI, attending Ann J. Kellogg Elementary/Middle School and graduating from Battle Creek Central High School. Following high school, he bravely served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Returning to Battle Creek, he worked as a machinist at Nabisco and Eaton's before relocating to Hot Springs, AR, in the mid-1970s.
Throughout his life, Tedd held various roles, including at Featherlite, Red Diamond Battery, Riser Ford, Tim Parker, and the City of Hot Springs Animal Control Office, where he served as a field supervisor, earning commendations and employee awards. Additionally, he was the proud owner and operator of Tedd's Windshield and Dent Repair.
Tedd, a man of few words, was devoted to his family and his beloved four-legged companions, Magnum and Zack. Renowned for his skills as a BBQ grill master and his meticulous landscaping, he took pride in maintaining his property, even amid declining health. His determination to "keep my grass cut" persisted until the end.
Tedd leaves to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Ann Wade, sons Robert (Stamatis) Hawkins, and Michael (Veronica) Hawkins, Sr., grandson Michael Hawkins, Jr., granddaughters Tiah Perry, Jasmine Burton, Darrika Thomas, great-grandchildren Jayvian, Jasiah, Janiah, JaHaire, Syncere, Nalah, and Zoriel, nieces and nephews Latasha (J.R.) McKinney, Laryssa(Dane) Blunt, Verla Calhoun, Rev. Bennie (Jacci) McKinney, Jr., Imani (Jon) McKinney, Eric Temple, Jr. Jade McKinney-Dolls, and numerous cousins. His lifetime friend, Anthony (Ameenah) Heard, will forever hold a special place in his heart.
A memorial service honoring Tedd's life will occur on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at Roanoke Baptist Church, 236 Whittington Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
