Obituary

"Blue" Ulysses Coleman was born to the late Quincy Coleman and Lois Gulley Coleman on September 10, 1949, in the family home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

He attended the Historic Langston High School in Hot Springs, AR.

Blue married the love of his life, Joyce, in 1971. They shared 49 wonderful years together. Their union was blessed with two children John Thomas and Yolanda "Landa".

Blue accepted Christ and joined Greater Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas at a very young age where he was a faithful and regular attending member until his passing. Blue enjoyed singing in the Greater St. Paul Mass choir and Male choir for many years and, he enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School.

Blue was a 30-year retired employee of Hot Springs School District (H.S.S.D) #6. Prior to working at the H.S.S.D, he was employed with National Rejecters until its closing. Blue loved fishing especially with his best friend, the late Freddie Robinson. Blue had a full scope of knowledge about repairing many things and he was called upon often for his diagnostic abilities.  Blue also loved listening to gospel music; he often could be seen walking around the house with his iPad and headphones or playing Gospel music throughout the house for all to hear.

Blue is proceeded in death by his parents Quincy and Lois Coleman, sisters, Amelia, and Lengeuary Coleman; brothers. Jerry, Winzon, and Armnee Coleman.

Those he left to forever cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Joyce D. Coleman; his daughter and her husband, Yolanda Coleman and Hiram Neal; his son, Ret. SFC John T. Coleman and his wife Virginia; three FAVORITE granddaughters that will miss him dearly, Alana, Abby, and Jacynda; four grandsons, Shaquille, Jalen, Branden, Jonathan ; two brothers, Minister Bernard (Anita) Coleman, and Denvie Coleman; one sister, Agnes Coleman. A very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Minister Otis and Linda Box; father-in-law, Arthur (Cynthia) Owens.  Blue leaves many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Blue will be missed by all as he has touched many lives.

A walk-through open visitation will be held Monday, July 6,  2020, from 12:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Friendship Cemetery.
