Victoria Johnson
Arnold
Aug 2, 1944 — Mar 22, 2024
The Life and Times of
Victoria (Vicki) Johnson, 79, the only daughter of Willie and Mary Lucile, began her life on August 2, 1944 in Benton, Arkansas.
Vicki was very young when she moved to Evanston, Illinois with her parents. She attended Evanston Township High School. She later studied at Sawyer Business School.
Vicki was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Evanston where she attended with her Mother and her Aunt Lillian Johnson. Aunt Lil, her Mother and she sang in Bethel's Choir. Victoria had a Beautiful first soprano voice. Actually, she sang the highest vocal operatic range. She sang solos and was the lead. Bethel AME is the Family Church the Johnson Family attended when visiting the Chicago Evanston area. Even though Vicki moved to Chicago, where she met Michael while reading her Bible at Lake Michigan, she remained a member of Bethel. Victoria married her King Michael Cecil Arnold of Belize on Good Friday, April 13th at Bethel AME Church. She later joined Christ Universal Mission Church under the leadership of Pastors Roosevelt and Matty Simpkins. She served CUMC for 20 years. During that time she served as recording secretary, in the culinary ministry, and on the Praise and Worship team, helping with special programs and anything else that was needed of her. She later began attending Chosen One Ministries with her Aunt Ernestine Johnson and later joined under the leadership of Apostle H Robert Keller and Lady Debra Keller until she had health issues. Pastor Keller said Victoria was so sweet and knew God's Anointing was upon her the way she Praised God and always sang prophetic songs for him. He said he honored her for respecting him as the leader. Victoria Loved the Lord and Loved to serve.
Victoria had love and compassion for people. She connected with them and captured them with her infectious smile and sweet spirit. She absolutely loved her family, especially her dear mother, father, and husband. They were special to her. She would do whatever she needed and wanted to do for them. All her aunts, uncles, and cousins were special to her. She shared a special bond with her youngest Aunt Geneva especially since they are only 2 years 8 months apart in age. They're more like sisters and share an aunt/sis, niece/sis relationship.
Vicki enjoyed co-hosting with her husband and family holiday events for her aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Illinois and Indiana area. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family, but as time brought about a change in her condition she wasn't physically able to do so anymore. Of course, everyone was disappointed. Chicken is her favorite food. BBQ rib tips are her second favorite food. She loved to eat. She ate very slowly and savored the flavor of everything she ate.
Victoria is a very smart person and a computer wizard. She believed in being organized and it bothered her that she couldn't keep things as organized as she used to and wanted to.
Vicki has had numerous health issues but didn't let that stop her from caring for her mother, being a devoted wife, attending Family Reunions, and supporting and encouraging family members and others. She was a Prayer warrior. She is a special person. She often pressed her way to attend her Family Reunion because she enjoyed being around family so much. Vicki and her mother were blessed to go to Belize with her husband Michael to meet his family. They immediately connected with Michael's family for they were now one family. In June 2021 Vicki came to Benton to be with her aunt/sis and family when Cassandra transitioned. She was here to walk in and be by her Aunt Geneva's side at Cassandra's Homegoing Celebration, stayed for the 49th Daniel A & Mary Johnson Family Reunion the 3rd week of July, the Smith/Sloan Family Reunion the last Saturday of July and to celebrate her birthday August 2, 2021. She willingly spent time in Benton to make sure her aunt/sis was taken care of and was going to be all right. She was blessed to attend the 50th Annual Daniel A. and Mary Johnson Family Reunion in Indianapolis, Indiana where she and her aunt/sis were blessed to be roommates. Everyone was excited Vicki was attending for everyone has a special love for Vicki because she is so special to our family. Due to being in the hospital after having back surgery on June 26, 2023, at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, she wasn't able to attend JFR July 2023 in New Orleans. She had already said she would be attending JFR this year 2024. Unfortunately, Victoria never made it back home with her husband after her surgery. She was back and forth from hospital to rehab. Our Dearly Beloved Victoria Johnson Arnold transitioned to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord Friday, March 22, 2024, at approximately 8 am at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.
