Wanda Faye Pondexter age 64, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2019.  She was born on October 7, 1955, in Mineral Springs to the late, Bradley and Dorothy Newton Pondexter, Sr. Wanda attended school in Tollette and later graduated from Saratoga High School.  Wanda moved to Hot Springs and attended Quapaw Vo-Technical School and received certification as a CNA. She worked many years for St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital and Care Network.  She was a faithful member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. She served as chair of the culinary ministry until her health began to fail.  Ms. Pondexter always made sure that Pastor Gulley had his breakfast and coffee.

She loved keeping her house clean and reading her daily word.  She was known for helping others either by offering transportation to the grocery store or for appointments.

Her memories will be cherished by her children, Wendell Johnson of Phoenix, AZ and Wendy Johnson of Jacksonville, AR; her grandsons, Dante and Keonte Haywood; her siblings, Jerry Pondexter of Hot Springs, Bradley Pondexter of Los Angeles, CA, Carolyn Pondexter and Dora (Willie) Battee of Mineral Springs, Gracie Dixon of Texarkana, TX, and Marie Langston of Texarkana, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 23, 2019, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 497 Crescent Ave.   Burial will follow in Crofton Cemetery in Tollette, AR.  Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 22, 2019, at the funeral home.
