Obituary

Willa M. McGregor, 84, of Hot Springs Village, AR, peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born on September 23, 1939.

Willa is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert McGregor (they were married on January 1, 1982)

Willa received her elementary education in Vidalia, Louisiana. She was a graduate of High Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, followed by her college education at Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL., where she later became a teacher at High Park High School, teaching Math and Accounting.

Willa confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Zion Baptist Church, Vidalia, LA. When she relocated to Chicago she joined Mt. Carmel, until she relocated to Matteson, IL where she joined New Faith Baptist Church until she relocated to Hot Springs Village where she joined Barcelona Road Baptist Church.  In her leisure moments, she found joy in watching soap operas and engaging in Sudoku crossword puzzles. However, her true passion was becoming a teacher, a profession she cherished deeply. Following her retirement, Willa indulged in her love for travel and cruising. For those fortunate enough to know her, you knew not to call her early, because you were aware of her penchant for sleeping in late and staying up throughout the night. She was an active and cherished member of the Barcelona Road Baptist Church and the community, where she relished being a part of various activities. Additionally, her involvement in her church community brought her great fulfillment.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Dr. Kimako Patterson, Patricia (Dr. Alfloyd) Butler, Elaine (Warren Sr.) Lowe, Lisa L. Smith, Lawrence and Patricia McGregor, Emma Elereby, and a host of family and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2024, at 9:00 am at Barcelona Road Baptist Church 390 Barcelona Rd, Hot Springs Village, AR. Prior to the service, there will be a one-hour visitation. The burial will follow at Little Rock National Cemetery, 2523 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR 72206.
