Obituary

Willie James Marshall, Sr age 47 of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Hot Springs passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018.  He was born December 29, 1970 in Hot Springs to Margaret Ann Marshall and Willie James McCoy.  His mother preceded him in death as well as his grandparents, Andrew and Marguerite Marshall, Sr and Willie James Hearn and Roselee McCoy.

He was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ.

Willie attended the Hot Springs School System and graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, NC.   He joined the United States Army and served our country for twenty years retiring as a Master Sergeant.  While serving in the military he was a highly decorated solider.  Among those awards include but not limited to the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, U.S. Navy Achievement Medal and the USAF President Unit Citation.  He was awarded a Purple Heart due to injuries received as a result of hostile enemy action.  Willie served in Kuwait, Balkans, Macedonia, Yugoslavia, Iraq and other areas too numerous to list.  He also attended college while serving in the military.

Willie loved boxing and was followed in his father's footstep and coached boxing.  He loved sports and most of all spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memories include his beloved children, Jasmine (Kendall Abel) Marshall and Willie James Marshall; his granddaughter, Amber Skyann; his father, Willie James McCoy (Dr. Janice McCoy, PhD); his brothers, Daniel Johnson, Dr.  Dorian McCoy, PhD (Carrie), Roderick McCoy (Tonya), Quentin McCoy (Erica), William McCoy (Tonya) and Jeremy McCoy; his sisters, Estra Barton (George), Paula Greathouse, Anita Douglas (Brian) and Tara Wesson-Miller (LaKeshia); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Mark Baptist Church 542 Crescent Ave, Hot Springs.  Burial will be at 12:00 PM in the Arkansas State Veteran Cemetery 1501 Maryland Ave, North Little Rock.
