Willie Davis Young, Jr. age 61, of Portland, OR formerly of Hot Springs passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born to Rev. Willie Davis Young, Sr. and Floralene Lenox Young on June 9, 1955 in Chicago, IL. He cherished being nurtured by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Gustavia (aka "Papa" and "Grandma Doot"). Jr. (as he was affectionately known) attended schools in Nevada County, Rosston and the Hot Springs School District where he attended Langston High School. He was employed by the Oregon Traffic Control as a certified Traffic Control Supervisor until his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Willie Davis Young, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Carl and Gustavia Tidwell-Young and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Zonie Nelson-Lenox;
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Floralene Lenox-Young;
brothers, Robert Harrell Young, Sr., Kevin Young and Andre Ronell Young, Sr. all of Portland, OR and ;Carl Andro Young of Hot Springs; sister, Robin (Kenneth) Smith of Portland, OR; aunts and uncles: Fred Young, Ruby Curry, Alice Cotton, Dorsey (Lee) Jones, Mae Lenox, Mildred Young and Lonell (Minnie) Lenox; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Greater Ebeneezer Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Billy Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Barksdale Cemetery, Rosston, AR. Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
