For everything there is an appointed season, and a time for everything under heaven....

A Time to Be Born
On May 31, 1927 was the appointed time for our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Lucille B. Block to be born to the parentage of Conway Block Sr. and Valree Cooper Block in Fulton, AR.

A Time of Loving

In May 1946 she married Matthew M. Carrigan to their union eleven children were added.

A Time of Planting, Reaping & Sowing

A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Our mother expressed her hope in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Church in Fulton, AR. She later united with Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, Church Mother and Missionary President. Her passion was collecting money each year for the Church Anniversary. She was a member of the E.U. Reed Chapter #216 Order of Eastern Star. She retired from Champion Parts, INC after many years of service. Her greatest accomplishment after retirement was building her a brick home. Most of the funds for her down payment were saved in cans down through the years.

A Time of Sharing, Caring, Giving & Remembering

I'd like the memories of me to be happy ones. I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done. Remember the happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. Our mother had some good days and she had some bad days. But all of her good days far out weighed the bad days. She endured many adversities in her life but her belief in God sustained her. She was never a lavish person but always made sure that her family was taken care of. She loved to cook and share her food. Some of her favorite dishes were T-Cakes, German Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Cake, Sweet Potato Pies, Chilli and homemade Jellies and Preserves. We will forever remember the many saying that our mother said. Just to name a few:
"Don't mess with no man that can't even buy you a sausage biscuit"
"I've been to hell and back on a spider-web-, it didn't give in and I ain't tired yet"
"I got my hands in the Lords hands"
"I couldn't say nothing but one word- "Lord Have Mercy"- but that was really three words
"If a penny bread wagon came by you wouldn't have a penny to buy a loaf of bread"
"If you don't stop popping that gum, I'm gonna take it out your mouth and use it to stick you to the wall"
"As long as you keep your fist closed can't nothing get in and nothing can get out"

If you knew our Mom you will know what her favorite saying was - if not ask us. She enjoyed life after retirement by attending the Adult Day Center playing dominoes and bingo. She enjoyed taking trips with her children and siblings. Mother had an opportunity to take cruises and many other memorable outings. She enjoyed being spoiled by our Kansas City family each time we visited them. If the truth be known the trips she took with her siblings rank at the top of her list. On mom's 80th Birthday she was crowned "Queen" by her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of her Tiara. One of her granddaughters was blessed to wear it at her wedding. It will now become a family heirloom for others to wear.

A Time for Parting
Mother often stated "everyone will have a birth date and a death date". She answered the call from God on Sunday, October 3, 2010. This day ended a double five generation span. The cloud of witnesses that have completed the journey before her include her aforementioned parents and husband, two children, Charles W. Carrigan and Lorrine Carrigan, siblings, Carlee, James, Roger and Conway Block, Jr. Albertha Brown and Florene Jones. Her father & mother-in-law: William (Jack) and Geneva Carrigan and numerous extended family members.

A Time for Rejoicing
We mourn the lost of our Queen but not as those who have no hope.
We will rejoice when the day will come when we shall behold the Lord face to face. It will be then when He will crown her with a crown of life. Until then her memories that have been made and shared will be keep near by her children and their spouses that respected her as their mom, John (Mercie) Carrigan of Prescott, AR, Linda (Freddie) Smith of Fulton, AR, Lonnie (Margaret) Carrigan of Plano, TX, Severa Nell (Donnie) Davis of Hope, AR, Frankie (Kris) Carrigan of Garland, TX, Caesar (Debbie) Carrigan, of Hope, AR, Shirley (Jerry) Griffin of Dallas, TX, Kathy (Samuel) Madison of Reader, AR, Chester (Constance) Carrigan of Hot Springs, AR and Mae Ann Carrigan of Hope, AR; her brother and sisters and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bennie (Lois) Block and Irene Walker all of Texarkana, TX, Pearleane (Harvey) Cheatham of Fulton, AR and Mattie Hill of McNab, AR, Era Dixon of Emmet, AR; several grandchildren, great grandchildren including Jamecia Davis who stayed in the home with her, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. We shared our mothers love with our extended brothers and sisters who respectfully called her Mama Cill, Joyce (Charlie) Odgen, Shirley Bass, Eugene (Jowanne) Carrigan, Doris (Willis) Black, James Carrigan, David Carrigan, Robert (Trelaine) Carrigan, Annette (Kenneth) Smith and Lisa (Maurica) Aparcio and many others too numerous to mention.
